Dr. Marc Stees

I have lived and practiced medicine in the Sauk Valley since completing my residency in 2005. My career here began at the Sterling Rock Falls Clinic, which transitioned to become part of CGH Medical Center in 2011. For the first 11 years of my career I practiced general and cosmetic dermatology. During those early years in my career, diagnosing and treating skin cancer became my passion in the practice of medicine. In 2016, I took a sabbatical from practice and completed a year-long fellowship in Mohs micrographic surgery at the University of Wisconsin, the birthplace of Mohs surgery. Everyone who performs Mohs surgery in the world can trace their lineage back to Dr. Mohs and the University of Wisconsin. This was an amazing experience for me and I am grateful to be able to bring these skills to the Sauk Valley. I have been performing Mohs surgery since 2017 and have performed thousands of cases. I am the only fellowship trained Mohs surgeon in a large geographic area. One must travel to Madison, Iowa City, or the western Chicago suburbs to receive care from another fellowship trained individual.

My wife is also from Freeport. We love living in Dixon and raising our four children in the Sauk Valley. This area is truly a hidden gem. In my free time I enjoy coaching my children’s athletic teams, riding my mountain bike, and playing golf. In addition, I play bass guitar in a local rock band, ‘Off Call,’ composed of fellow local physicians. I am also a diehard fan of the Fighting Illini.
